Paihia

We drove north from Auckland to Paihia on the Bay of Islands. It is next to the Whitianga Treaty Grounds. Above is a picture of our room at the hostel.

Below is a picture of the bay.

We took the ferry across to Russell. This is Christ Church, the oldest surviving church built in 1836.

We then went to the Pompallier Mission where they used to print the first bibles in Maori. They still have the presses there and the tanning works where they tanned hides for the covers.

This notice was down by the beach.

When we got back to Paihia we had some mussels, look at the size of these.
