On the way from Whitianga to Rotorua we stopped at Matamata so we could book tickets to visit Hobbiton. Luckily they had had a cancellation so we could go almost immediately. A coach took us there and then a guide took us round. It was great but I have only included a few photos.
The houses are different sizes so that if you stand by them you could look tall or small. The tree on the hill is fake, it is made of steel and has fabric oak leaves individually wired on.
Of course we had to go in the Green Dragon and have a cider (or beer) and a pork pie.
